The local markets of Kathmandu are a myriad of colours and sounds. Once a part of the ancient silk route these markets are still bustling with activities and you can spend hours hunting for your favourite spice or local herbs. This tour will take you to two typical markets. We walk from Thamel and then move towards the Asan market which was part of the famed silk route and trade was carried out with India and China from here. This is the place where most Nepalis still like to do their shopping. from spices to herbs to Himalayan pink salt to local produce.
The scene will take you back hundreds of years when Nepal was the major trading junction between India and Tibet. The temples, the hustle and bustle of the people and stray cattle will linger in your memory long after you have left the country.
