Tour highlights

The fast urbanisation of Kathmandu has swallowed large swathes of agricultural land along with local cultures and lifestyles. Some pockets remain in the south of the valley, which is reminiscent of what the Kathmandu Valley was like 50 to 60 years ago. Here we begin our day with the customary temple square visit. Then we go to a local women’s cooperative to see how the craft was made many years ago. If lucky, we could try our skills too. We visit a local farmer’s house and go through the daily chores of their life.

If it happens to be planting or harvesting season, we could join the farmers and experience the backbreaking work firsthand. Lunch will be typical local cuisine in a similar setting. After lunch, we can wander around the narrow alleys, admiring the local woodcraft and metalwork. A small time frame is kept aside for you to buy souvenirs made the traditional way by hand. One day in the life of a local will stay a lifetime with you.
